Lessons & Classes
What do we cover in private voice lessons?
Everything! Lessons are tailored to each individual, so we cover whatever YOU need. We'll work foundational vocal technique & build up every possible aspect of your voice; We'll work song stylization & do in depth genre studies; We'll use in studio recording equipment to teach different techniques, exercises, & stylizations so you can hear your voice back in real time; We'll work performance pieces & auditions and cover emotional texture, gesture, & presence; We'll work, record, & mix tracks & projects in studio; If needed & desired, we can work ear training, intervals, sight singing, music theory, composition, etc.
Can I take voice & ukulele in the same time slot?
Yes! Your time slot can be used for whatever discipline you'd like to study. Depending on the length of your time slot, we generally only have time for one or the other each lesson, but you are welcome to switch off each week as desired; However, when first starting voice or ukulele lessons as a beginner, I do recommend at least 2-3 consecutive weeks per instrument. You can also use your time slot for acting lessons.
What do we do at my first lesson?
I first become acquainted with you & ask you questions about your musical background & experience; I get to know your goals & ambitions. We will perform some vocalizes to measure your current abilities and then we get straight to work building technique & repertoire! It's best to come prepared with a song that you know very well so I can hear you in your element.
As a parent, can I accompany my child to lessons?
Of course! Parents are always welcome in studio! I love it when parents are able to take a more active role in their child's education & training. I know it's not always possible, and some kids prefer their parents don't, but when you can, totally come on in!
What ages do you offer lessons to?
All ages welcome! I offer lessons to children, teens, & adults!
Do I have to perform in studio recitals?
Performing in studio recitals is completely optional! If you don't feel ready or would prefer to not perform at all, that is completely up to you.
How long will it take to fix & develop my voice?
It's different for everyone and it all depends on YOU. Efficient & correct practice is essential for quick development. In our studio lessons, I provide you with all the tools & exercises you need. Read through this great blog post on how you can efficiently practice at home alongside your weekly lessons.
